Few days ago I had the opportunity to perform a pre-purchase classic car inspection of a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette at the St Louis Car Museum for a client.
The great news is the client ended up purchasing the Vette based on my pre-purchase classic car inspection! I started with the undercarriage of this beautiful car this time. This car is all original with the exception of a few parts here and there but has never been off the frame or any panels replaced. I did notice a pretty good leak from the rear pinion seal but that is a pretty easy fix. The body shows a nice finish with a few gouges on the right rear from someone having a mishap with the hard top (I have seen this on several other cars similar), unfortunately it looks like it would require some actual paint work in that area to be resolved.
I found the engine and transmission and rear end to be numbers matching to the body number. The engine was verified to have been just rebuilt through documentation provided with the car as well as a full file folder of other documentation including NCRS awards and an appraisal a couple years back. This Vette is the real deal and a great additional to any collection. The car performed great during the test drive. I did notice it did need a bit of brake adjustment on the right rear drum as it was a bit tighter than the rest.
